Meet Our Vizzler of the Year!
Obviously, 2020 is a year we won’t forget...although many of us would like to! While there have been struggles, there have also been many tremendous highs. You simply need to look to our schools and what administrators, teachers, students, and parents have accomplished. They, along with our health care workers, have found themselves at the heart of the crisis...but also at the heart of the solution. They adapted quickly to remote learning and now, many are facing a new normal in the classroom.
We’d like to introduce you to one such teacher, Warren Preston, who is our Vizzler of the Year. Warren is an ESE/SLA Teacher with Duval County Public Schools. He and his students have engaged in over 23,000 Vizzle Excel lessons this year! We feel honored to have helped by providing a resource to ease the transition between school and home.
What is this school year looking like for you and your students?
I have 4 face-to-face classes and 2 virtual classes daily.
What is the most challenging part of teaching for you this year?
Keeping the students interested in learning amid the “new” classroom look and feel; masks, desk shields, and on-line learning.
How has Vizzle Excel been helpful?
My students require visual and oral prompting. Vizzle Excel provides the accommodations my students need. Vizzle Excel is great to use as lesson introduction and lesson enhancement.
What is your favorite Vizzle Excel feature and why is that so important for you?
Vizzle Excel has many lessons to choose from, provides various levels of the lessons, and different aspects of the same lesson. This is important in keeping students interested and in providing various learning strategies.
How have your students responded to Vizzle Excel?
The students really enjoy Vizzle Excel and its ease of access!
As we know, student engagement can be a challenge with remote learning, what have you found to be successful?
Our students in ESE/SLA need to log in with the least assistance. Vizzle Excel is very accommodating and compatible with the TEAMs format.
Thank you, Warren, it has been a pleasure getting to know you! We at Vizzle applaud all the educators for their tireless efforts to meet the educational needs of their students this year. I think this popular quote by Mr. Rogers is appropriate. “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
